  • Inspiration
Shalini Murthy was born and brought up in the Udupi district of southern Karnataka. After completing her education as an arts graduate, she moved to Bangalore to join her husband in 1982. Since then she has contributed as the partner at Erkadi Systems, an indigenous medical equipment manufacturing company. She has been an active member of the ELCIA Trust and of the ELCIA executive committee. Her affinity to help little children has led her to undertake projects which involve improvement of conditions for the Government School children in and around Electronics City. One of her other pet issues is conservation of trees. She along with ELCIA have been instrumental in getting over 10000 saplings planted in the Electronics City Area. She also serves as an executive committee member of Destination Heritage. This is an organisation devoted to the task of helping the citizens appreciate the very rich, but mostly unknown historical heritage of Bangalore. Apart from this, her love for the written word has led her to publish a number of articles in publication which are varied in nature. She is also an art enthusiast and paints as a hobby. She has a passion to help and her only wish for the future is to enrich the quality of our environment as well as its people. She is a celebrated cook, and her love for her hometown, combined with her enthusiasm to entertain guests has led her to start a new endeavor called Baalga.
