  • Inspiration
    I am Keisham lovingly called as Bung, I was born and raised in Imphal, Manipur. I am funloving and full of life. I love to do anything creative, be it fashion, art, music or food! My love for fashion has made me a fashion designer. I enjoy cooking and hosting friends and family. I confess that if I wasn't a fashion designer I would have been a Chef. My love for my hometown cuisine (Meitei Cuisine) is seen in my cooking and the way I talk about it.
  • What we will be doing?
    Expect a very authentic Meitei cuisine cooked from local herbs which i get from my hometown,fresh and mostly organic grown in our kitchen garden.
  • What is included

    If I could describe Manipuri food in one word, it would be – healthy. The ingredients of Manipuri cuisines is mainly chilli and pepper thus making it devoid of any masalas. we also do not use oil which has a very good effect on the body.

    Uchina Kanghou

    Ear like mushroom and yellow pea stir fry.

     

    Singju

    Singju is a typical Manipur mix vegetable salad-type dish. It originated from the Meitei but is also well eaten by most of the sibling communities.

     

    MAIN COURSE

     

    Pork with Bamboo shoots

    A pork recipe with four simple ingredients- (try to guess them once you eat it and you will be surprised with the list)and prepared without oil.

     

    Ooti  

    Ooty is a very well known cuisine of Manipur, cooked and eaten in every house. Manipuris love it hardcore. Its a simple Yellow pea curry.

     

    IROMBA (will prepare one of them)            

    Soibum Iromba

    Fermented Bamboo Shootschutney. It is a dish of vegetables boiled and mashed along with chillies. It can be made of various vegetables like Bamboo, banana stem,banana flower,beans,tree bean or stinky bean,okra,common split gill mushroom.

     

    Dry Mushroom

    Kanglayen iromba. Its a manipuri speacilty eaten by all and loved by all with a very distinct earthy taste you will not forget.

     

    Mana Mashing Iromba 

    Mix Veg chutney.

     

    Chamfut 

    Steam seasonal vegetables.

     

    Kangsoi

    Vegetable stew with smoke fish. Kangsoi is a authentic Manipuri dish. This dish is a must have in celebration times, especially at New Year eve. 

     

    Kanghou

    Mix vegetables fry. This is my speciality you can also sat Chef's Special.

     

    Dessert

    Chakhao Kher

    Black rice pudding. Black Rice Kheer/Pudding is a delicacy that comes from the North East of India, particularly Manipur. Assam & Manipur produces a large scale of Black rice, which is drought resistant and also rich in minerals. Chak-Hao kheer is served during all festivals and celebrations

This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had! The host is one of nicest people around, and is warm and happy to have you around. Keishem's passion for food shows in the scrumptious meals he prepares for his guests. This is an absolute must for foodies or anyone just looking to lift their spirits with good conversation, yummy food and great people!

I find that the most engaging way to learn about a different culture is through their cuisine because people, in general, are more than happy to share knowledge over food and conversation.
