  • Inspiration
    My tryst with cooking started when I was about 12 years old. I have been cooking and feeding family and friends from my childhood and love the entire feeling. With OpenOuts, I bring forward little known dishes and cuisine from the Meitei community to you here in Mumbai. You will see the love for the same when I talk about it endlessly and serve you delicious dishes, one after another.
  • What we will be doing?
    Nagaland and Manipur are 2 sister states from the eastern part of the country. This OpenOut will take you a on an exotic food journey made from ingredients and local herbs which I have got from my hometown from our organic kitchen and special spices from Nagaland.

    Appetizer

    Paknam

    A popular side dish in Manipur.It is of various kinds - besan paaknam,kanglayen paaknam,laphu tharo paaknam,nga marum paaknam,etc.It is basically a baked preparation.

     

    Main course

    Pork Cooked inTangkhul Naga style

    Pork cooked without any spices and no oil used, just a special Tangkhul naga chilli and pork cooked in low flame in thick pan.

     

    Pork with Fermented Bamboo Shoot

    The classic manipuri pork dish made with four simple ingredients, guess them once you eat it, and prepared without oil.

     

    Boiled Pork with Pok Choi

    Pork boiled with pok choi cut length wise and boiled together

     

    Vegetable Stew Cooked with Smoked Fish

    It’s called kangshoi in manipuri. Stew made with mix vegetables and smoked fish.

     

    Kanglayen Iromba

    This dry mushroom iromba, with a distinct earthy taste, is a manipuri specialty eaten and loved by all and a taste you will remember for a long time.

     

    Sticky Rice

    All the above are had with sticky rice.

     

    Dessert

    Black Rice Pudding

    A naturally gluten-free dessert made with antioxidant-rich black rice, creamy coconut milk, and served with sea salt and sliced mango.

This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had! The host is one of nicest people around, and is warm and happy to have you around. Keishem's passion for food shows in the scrumptious meals he prepares for his guests. This is an absolute must for foodies or anyone just looking to lift their spirits with good conversation, yummy food and great people!
